Opportunity

This is a valuable and rare opportunity to work on a 3 month apprenticeship placement with a small but prestigious luxury fashion and textiles company and be a part of in a dynamic and dedicated team. The post is for someone with experience in setting up and maintaining websites and ecommerce platforms and general IT support. Applicants must be a graduate of one of Universities participating in the Santander apprentice scheme.

Tasks include

  • completing our new e-commerce platform using WordPress and Woocommerce including configuring Sagepay payment gateway, server certificates, and maintaining security and database
  • set up and manage affiliate programme on the e-commerce site
  • developing several wordpress sites converting both HTML sites, upgrading them, incorporating syndicated content, etc..
  • SEO optimisation generally using Yoast SEO, researching appropriate keyword optimisation for luxury, fashion and arts audiences. Work with our social media manager to ensure that SEO works in conjunction with social media strategy.
  • database management – collating contacts researched into a comprehensive database, as well as
  • IT support in managing the hosting, email server, and office IT troubleshooting and support.  
  • Web admin – updating websites using different systems such as WordPress, Dreamweaver, etc.. This will include regular security scans, back ups, etc..
  • Configure analytics using Awstats
  • Set up Google analytics, set up several reports to report back to the directors on visitor statistics, etc..
There are however many cross-overs with this role and the successful applicant will be expected to support and work with the other members of the team. The priority however  is to ensure that the online shop is working properly. Once the online shop is completed, then there may be an opportunity to explore developing our own inhouse app.

Works with

The team of people is small so whilst you will be working with one or two principles, a certain flexibility be expected to work with other members of the company in their respective roles. The added purpose of this is to inform and educate about other aspects of the company which will form a crucial part of developing information for customers and followers.

Skills Required

  • Computer skills – absolute minimum office programmes – word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet browsing, social media with a demonstrable keen interest in other areas
  • Web programming – minimum html and at least an awareness and interest in CSS, template design and applications such as WordPress, MySQL, php, etc.
  • E-commerce set up and management especially secure payment gateways
Interest in the arts, fashion and digital media preferred. We are also open to those who have particular interests and skills that could fit in with our objectives.

Personality Type

It is likely that  part of this job will suit someone who much prefers to have their head in the geekery of programming, processes and systems whilst the other aspects will suit an open, creative gregarious individual.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Team player with ability to work using own initiative
  • Good communication and ability to work within a team
  • Very analytical with ability to dissect data which can be used to make improvements to a marketing campaigns
  • Keen to ensure all work produced is to a high standard

Package Details

This post is aimed at providing a 3 month apprenticeship under the Santander scheme.

Holidays

Statutory holidays of 20 paid days plus Bank Holidays pro rata.

Working Hours

8 hour days Monday to Friday. Generally 9am to 5-5.30pm although there is some flexibility on this.  Out of hours work may be required and will be encouraged if it is appropriate for achieving our objectives or supporting special events. Fair hours will be applied in these situations with time off given in lieu for extra hours worked.

There will be a probationary period to ensure that the successful applicant is suitable and they are happy with the position.

Expected Duration

3 months on apprentice scheme with potential for longer term position available for the right person.

Qualifications

5 good GCSEs grades A*-C or equivalent. At least one appropriate A Level or equivalent. Those with demonstrable skills but without these qualifications will also be considered.
